Interview for UJ Campus paper February 20091. What does Juggernaught mean and why did you decide on it? JUGGERNAUGHT is a ballsy name which suggests power, an unstoppable force. 2. What are the band members’ full names and if any their stage names? Alexis “ONEYEDOG” Schofield-drums Herman “Alex Munroe” le Roux-vocals, guitar Jovan “ALL MAN” Tutunovic-guitar, vocals Leon Worst(Slashdogs) is filling in on bass for a few shows while we are busy auditioning for a new bassist. 3. Tell me something interesting about each of your band members. Well, ONEYEDOG gets mistaken for Jesus a lot, ALL MAN is Serbian and looks like Jesus, Alex too gets mistaken for Jesus frequently, and Leon, well he doesn’t look like Jesus at all, which in this band is pretty interesting. 4. With which great band would you guys like to be associated with? Difficult to say with so many awesome bands, maybe AC/DC or Led Zeppelin. 5. Where have you performed in 2008? We’ve played loads of bar and club shows around Gauteng in the last year, we’ve also played some festivals around the country like Oppikoppi, Witchfest and Lucky Fish. 6. Where was your most exiting gig in 2008? I think Oppi was the best, it had the biggest crowd and its such a legendary festival. Plus it’s in the bush, so you can misbehave and be generally unpleasant as much as you like, Oppi rocks balls every year, can’t wait for the next one. 7. Why should someone listen to your music? Well, if you are looking for relief from modern rock and metal, which is filled with effects, trends and guys wearing make-up, you should come check out some good ol’ balls to the wall rock ‘n roll. 8. Describe the band’s typical fan? It’s mostly mountain men and guys (and girls) that hide in bushes and wait for young girls to ride past on their bicycles, so they can push them off and smell their seats. Just kidding, but not really, guess it’s anyone that hasn’t been dragged into this flacid metrosexual fad and likes their hard rock. 9. The name of your best song? The song that seems to be most peoples favourite is “Only Love Her When She’s Gone”, which is a bit of a misleading title really, because it’s actually about sex and the Devil, it’s one for the ladies. 10. Is there an album available or will one be available soon? We have a 4 song demo/ep at moment called “Man-Rock Part 1”, this you can find on www.juggernaught.co.za as well as our myspace and facebook pages where you can also download it for free. As for a full length, we are currently in the pre-production stage, we have the material we are just demoing and finalizing everything before we start recording. 11. What are the band’s plans for 2009, for example when and where will you be playing your gigs, and specifically when will you guys be playing in Johannesburg? We are playing the Motherfudd festival 13-15 Feb which will feature the best SA rock and metal bands and should be awesome. Then, we’ll probably be a bit quiet till the album is released hopefully by May, after which we’ll be doing a tour around the country and further (Maun Festival (Bots) and Windhoek MetalFest (Nam)) to promote it, so look out for us. 12. When you guys are not busy with band stuff, what are you usually doing? (May be answered individually) ALL MAN is a debt collector, ONEYEDOG is involved in the sex industry (he’s a cyber-pimp) and Alex is always busy with the band or his other musical endeavours. |
