This is an interview the band had with EZ Music SA:

10seconds with: Juggernaught

1. What are your names and instruments?

Alex Munroe - Guitar/Vocals
All Man - Guitar
Mulheimer - Bass
Oneyedogman - Drums

2. How did you guys meet?

Norm: One fateful day at the crossroads... Alex: Mulheimer and I met on a Tourbus many years ago, I played in Shadowlord and he played in Juvenile Delinquents, I stole his girlfriend, he hates me but acts as though it’s all cool, I met Allman and Oneyedogman in London drunken brawling, thought they’d be perfect. Allman: At a church burning family fun day.

3. How long has have you guys been together as a band?

Mulheimer: One blurry year

4. What are your influences, any ABBA?

Mulheimer: Bearded Abba maybe... Allman: Southern Rock, Blues, Classic Rock, Southern Metal, Classic Metal/Blues, Rock, Blues Metal with some southern influences, Southern Blues, Metal with a pinch of Rock from the South, so basically Rock ‘n Roll (Pride & Glory, Pantera, Sabbath, Motorhead, AC/DC, Scissorfight, Clutch, Skynyrd, Down, and many more)
Alex: Jesus dude, anyway, we listen to a wide variety of shit, I know I listen to a wide variety of dodgy shit but what influences our music would be sex, whiskey ‘n Rock ‘n Roll.

5. Who are your favourite South African bands?

Allman: Submachine, Black Cat Bone, No Quarter, Bloodline, Death Valley Blues Band, Slashdogs, There are more but I Cant think now, sorry.
Alex: Yea, we enjoy playing and hanging with the above-mentioned bands and we enjoy their music. For me all the above definitely, they know I do but bands who weren’t mentioned that I enjoy would be 7th son, Tidal Waves, Prevail, Havoc Vultures, Reverend Wright and the Mystery Train Gamblers, Architecture of Aggression I also like a lot of the Dinosaur days of SA rock, Rabbit and the like.

6. What do you guys think of the South African music scene?

Allman: The quality is very good, but with an exception to some it’s a bit stale with too many bands sounding the same and not offering anything interesting.

7. Best concert so far?

Mulheimer: Any Bohemians gigs. Oppikoppi was kick ass too!
Allman: Oppikoppi, Wolmer Youth Fest, the bigger the stage and the more people the better, free booze also helps.
Alex: I tend to enjoy the smaller gigs as well (not the completely empty ones though), you get to see who the loyal guys are, plus you have less pressure, its like a fun jam, like it’s meant to be in a band, don’t get me wrong, I looove the big gigs too but don’t diss the small ones.

8. Worst concert so far?

Mulheimer: Any gig where theres no liquor. Unacceptable.
Allman: When you play to your girlfriends and the barman and you can see the tumbleweeds rollin it’s usually not great.
Alex: I said, don’t diss the small ones, asshole. But yea, that does suck, small gigs are cool but not completely empty ones, our girlfriends have seen us play too many times.

9. How do you guys feel about the “Heavy Metal” stabbing in Krugersdorp?

Mulheimer: Tragic event, but rock and roll shouldn’t be blamed for a psychopath’s actions.
Allman: It’s not a Heavy Metal stabbing, it’s a “I’m a flaccid loser that gets bullied at school and need to lash out stabbing!
Alex: They just call it a Heavy Metal stabbing on account of the guy listening to Slipknot, they don’t take into consideration that the other 99.99% of murderers listen to gospel and bokdrol treffers, oh no, that can’t be the cause… ah, this guy has a slipknot cd, we can blame them! It’s good publicity though; I wish he was wearing a JUGGERNAUGHT shirt.

10. What is the secret ingredient to MAN-ROCK?

Mulheimer: If I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret, would it? But whiskey is one of ‘em. Allman: 4 parts MAN, whole lotta liquor, raw meat, some fat groove and no nu metal bullshit.

11. Most rock ‘n roll moment so far?

Mulheimer: Piet fucking Botha giving us props!
Allman: On-stage we make a lot of friends, but off-stage we make more enemies than friends so there are too many to mention really.
Alex: It’s just cause Allman is an asshole.
Allman: And youre not?
Alex: Yea, I am, but I think we’ve had plenty, Allman and I tend to get drunk and rowdy, next thing it’s up to Mulheimer and Oneyedogman to calm things down.

12. Did you guys get your band name from the dude in Xmen?

Mulheimer: No. It’s from My Little Pony. Allman: Our name is not Wolverine so no.
Alex: No, I wanted to call it Juggernaut but there are a couple of bands with that name, so I used the proper spelling, I think it looks more powerful anyway.

13. Any plans on taking MAN-ROCK overseas?

Mulheimer: World Domination, sucker!
Alex: Of course, we’re not exactly loaded so we are always in search of sponsors to help us; first we need an album to take with us. If we had the money or a sponsor we’d be touring the world the rest of our lives.

14. Future plans for the band, such as gigs, releases or tours?

Mulheimer: Of course!
Allman: Witchfest in Sep (With Carcass!! It’s gonna rock balls!), Lucky Fish in Oct, a possible tour down to Cape Town in Dec, an album late 2008 or early 2009 and a music video with naked bitches in the forest.

15. Where can fans get MAN-ROCK?

Mulheimer: Anywhere where the beer flows like wine, youre sure to find us!
Allman: From your nearest man or man supplies shop (e.g. taxidermist, butchery, hunting equipment store, etc…) or if that fails on www.juggernaught.co.za or at one of our shows.
Alex: Well Man-Rock isn’t an album, it’s just the EP we recorded even before Allman and Oneyedogman joined the band, we have 2 new demo tracks which just needs to be mixed, as for a proper album… soon.
